Photography has been ingrained in me ever since I was small enough to have to use a stool to reach the enlarger. My grandfather had this room with a red light and all kinds of photographs and equipment inside. I always thought it was the most intriguing place, yet I wasn't really allowed to go in it, as my grandfather died when I was just a baby. My grandma was afraid of me getting into something I didn't belong in, when in fact I grew up to discover that it was the exact place I belonged.

I have grown up to feel as though my camera is an extension of my eyes, and at times it's the only thing I can think about. There is nothing more peaceful and satisfying to me than developing a memory and preserving it to be viewed forever. I will always have a passion for the darkroom, however technology has brought things to a new level. While at times I would love to spend my San Diego days in the dark room, the reality is that we live in a digital age. I will always have a passion for true black and white prints, but after discovering the wonders of my Nikon, I could never really go back to using film more than once in a while. I do believe however, that it's not about the equipment, it's about the talent. Some of my favorite photographs are from a toy camera. I like to capture things in a way that people may not normally see them just by glancing. Part of the reason I love photography is I love to be able to create images just from natural beauty that surrounds us. There is so much to explore and I look forward to many travels to come. From nature to architecture, to fine art and people, it's all worth capturing in my eyes. I hope I can bring a new perspective to the many aspects of the world we live in.
