"love the sound of that shutta"

So as much as I would like to think that my Australian accent is halfway decent, it doesn't even come close. Still, when on a photo excursion I can't help myself from emulating the famous Peter Lik and every few minutes uttering, "love the sound of that shutta". It makes me laugh every time. For those who don't know who he is, he's a famous landscape photographer with his own TV show, as well as many galleries around the world. I remember watching the episode where he went to Big Sur and was disappointed that the fog was so thick; the only way to get a good picture was to take a boat out to the lighthouse. I find this to be extremely unfair because I too have been to Big Sur three times now, and each time the weather is awful for photographs. I on the other hand, don't have the pull to get someone to take me out to sea on their boat. With that being said, beyond the haze, fog, and lack of clouds in the sky (oh and tourists flashing their cameras at sunset during your ten min exposure), I still managed to get some halfway decent shots. Sure, they aren't perfect, but with as many times I have heard that Big Sur is hard to photograph, I don't feel so bad. Oh and there is proof of this in the fact that I could not find one postcard there with anything other than sunny, shadowy, hazy, or foggy pictures. No good sunsets or long exposures, just your run of the mill "tourist shots". So anyway, here are a few shots I liked:

Yes the water really was that blue :)

The photo below was in Carmel, where it was extremely hazy. I still like this one though..
Below is where people kept setting their flash off, I had to get rid of all the light flares, and maybe I might have added another element ;) This one (below) was an afterthought on the way back from Carmel. It was a unique way to capture the lighthouse. Thanks to my boyfriend for suggesting we pull over and give it a shot :)
